It was a joy this morning riding with Sebastian Schlebusch from Nextbike. We met during the recent LTA RFI (Request for Information) briefing for bike share system to be implemented in Singapore.
We rode from Paya Lebar MRT station to the CBD area, via Garden By the Bay and the Marina Barrage. The route consists both busy on-road and relax off-road riding and it gives a taste of how it is like cycling in Singapore.
Through talking to Sebastian, I realize Nextbike is a unique bike share operator which also manufacture their own bicycle and stations system. Currently there are 17,000 Nextbikes in 80 cities. “Vertical integration” give them a great due of flexibility when dealing with different cities. In addition to automatic docking unit, they can also provide bicycle with own smart lock. The bike can be parked anywhere and user will be able to locate and unlock the bike through a mobile phone app. More about Nextbike.
